9000, the 2009 Saab 9-5 Sedan replaced the five-door hatchback
design with a more traditional four-door sedan arrangement, including
the 2009 Saab 9-5 SportWagon. 2.3-liter four-cylinder or 3.0-liter
V6 engines are turbocharged and currently, the 9-5 is well ensconced
in the luxury car category. In 2002, the Saab 9-5 was redesigned
in the middle of the design year to boost the appeal of the sedan
and wagon. The specs and features detailed in our 2009 Saab
9-5 review are essentially unchanged from last year.
The
2009 Saab 9-5 Linear is powered by a 185-horsepower turbocharged
four-cylinder that comes standard with a five-speed manual transmission
or a five-speed automatic. The 2009 Saab 9-5 Arc gets its
power from a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 rated at 200 hp with the
five-speed automatic as standard. Aero models get a high-output
version of the Saab Linear's four-cylinder motor that produces
250 hp. Like the Linear, the Aero comes standard with a five-speed
manual while a five-speed automatic is optional. Shift buttons
on the steering wheel for manual control of the five speed automatic
are new this year.
The 2009 Saab 9-5 comes in two styles, sedan and wagon , in
which are offered three body trim levels: Linear, Arc and Aero.
The base 2009 Saab 9-5 Linear model comes standard with leather
upholstery, walnut trim, power/heated seats, front and side airbags,
and the OnStar communications system.
