The
new 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid will offer improved fuel economy and
an increased range of driving of 400 to 500 miles per tank. Also
the new Escape Hybrid will offer better acceleration which Ford
claims will feel like a V6 using it's I4 engine.
One of the
nice things about the new Ford Escape Hybrid is reduced emissions,
the new Hybrid meets strict SULEV and Partial Zero Emissions Vehcile
standards. The Hybrid Electric Vehicle combines a chemically fueled
internal combustion engine. The new engine offers a shutoff at
idle which eliminates fuel waste when engine is not needed and
a regerative braking system, this system wull use an electric
motor or alternator to divert gas engine power from the wheels
to recharge the battery during steady speed cruising.
The new 2009 Ford Escape Series Hybrid engine is an internal comustion engine
that charges the battery through the electric motor or through
a generator, the gas engine does not directly drive the vehicle
and the regenerative breaking is used to supplement battery charging.
A Parallel Hybrid is both gas and electric, motors are connected
to the drivetrain and an internal combustion engine can be downsized
because of an electric motor which augments performance. The Split
Hybrid combines the benefits of both the series and parallel systems
through the use of a planetary gearset.
